DSVC: The Wrench 2025

CONCEPT:

The Wrench is a fast-paced one-week design battle hosted by the DSVC, where emerging creatives go head-to-head in a weeklong challenge full of twists. It all leads to a live finale, where finalists design on the spot and the crowd helps shape the outcome. High stakes, big energy, and one Golden Wrench up for grabs.

While juggling two client decks and barely catching sleep, I cracked a few Red Bulls and started grinding out an idea—no time, just instinct. Pure creative chaos, and I loved every second of it.

GOAL:

I had about three days to bring Power Up Pub to life—a fictional bar that needed a full identity, three custom alcoholic drinks, and some fun promo merch. I leaned into a neo-futuristic style with retro game console vibes, layering in bold illustrations and game-inspired copy to tie it all together and give the whole concept some extra energy to level up.

After showcasing our work at the grand finale, we were hit with a twist—The Wrench—a surprise challenge designed to shake up our creative process and crank up the pressure. On top of our bar identity and three alcohol labels, we now had to create a brand-new product: Micro Chips, an extra hot snack concept—all in just one hour.

To make things even more chaotic, the audience could donate live to sabotage us. Some of the curveballs? Designing with one hand behind your back, using your mouse at its slowest speed, or rocking an oven mitt on your dominant hand— all while that 1-hour timer counts down...
